Well it has been a while since my last post. Much has happened since....
1) Last racing season (2013) was good and bad. Bad because I was injured for much of the season and good because posted some PR times! I started with a small 5k (15:40) and also completed a 10 miler (54:30) and did not place less than 2nd in any race. I also made some big racing decisions for 2014. I will be racing longer distance races when I can, and am currently training for the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Mile Mountain Race at Bear Mountain in New York States Hudson Valley. I am excited and nervous and hope that I will be able to compete and do well in the vast forests, rocky ledges, small streams and waterfalls and technical terrain that Bear Mountain has to offer. I really hope that I will be able to compete well in this unique race distance and venue and would love to continue to represent the Saucony brand as the mountain runner and help them modify and improve their Kinvara Trail shoe.
2)This semester will be the final semester of my Nutrition and Exercise Physiology program in NYC, and it will give me an opportunity to work with some of the local collegiate and semi professional endurance athletes in the area. Coming off of last semester, I learned more in depth the science of healthy nutrition for distance runners before, during and after competition and training, and I hope to put it to practice with real athletes this semester. Additionally, I am working on a project related to nutrition intervention in Northeast Kenya, so I hope that my professional life will start to blossom this year, along with my running life.
Sadly such challenges doesn't happen here, I would love to be part of such challenges as it gives you view of your stemina. Thank you for sharing the post with us
